Over the last 12 months viewers have looked more than ever to specialist news channels to follow the flow of events unfolding across the world, from coverage of the funeral of Nelson Mandela in December to the commemorations marking 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War in November, plus the many other events that have moved, shocked or enlightened us during the year.
Euronews, France 24 and Polsat News, the three channels shortlisted by the jury reflect a wealth of experience, courageous news reporting and an ambition to adapt news for a regional audience.
