UPC Ireland CEO Magnus Ternsjo is to report to Virgin Media CEO Tom Mockridge, according to an internal email sent to staff on Tuesday morning.
The company said the move would enable both companies to share best practices and operational and commercial expertise and leverage economies of scale. This raises the possibility that the company might be folded into the UK operation acquired by Liberty Global in February.
A spokesman for UPC Ireland told Broadband TV News it was very much “business as usual”.
Unlike Virgin, UPC Ireland runs the Horizon hardware platform, though there are natural synergies in the channel line-up of the two operations.
