Norway’s consumer ombudsman has told the country’s two major cable companies that the practice of bundling broadband services with TV subscriptions is against the law.
The Forbrukerombudet has written to Telenor and GET calling for an end to what it calls compulsory bundling.
Such practices are common throughout the European cable market with pricing incentives heavily skewed towards the purchase of more than one service.
Both companies deny they are contravening the law.
Last month Telenor’s Canal Digital Kabel TV announced it was switching off its remaining analogue services to launch a standalone internet product.
