Samsung’s Smart TV platform now has more than 1.5 million weekly unique users in the UK, equivalent to a 50% increase in the past nine months.
Commenting on this growth, Doug d’Souza, TV/AV content manager at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said: “There has been a significant shift in the way people consume content in the UK. This change has helped the remarkable growth in users of the Samsung Smart Hub this year and shows that people are engaging with the content we have to offer more than ever before.
“At Samsung we believe that Smart TVs are a central hub of the home, whether it’s for watching catch up content or streaming movies, chatting to family via Skype or seeing what your friends are up to on Facebook. As the number one TV brand in the UK, Samsung Smart TV is leading the way in helping consumers view content in new ways and looking ahead, we are excited about what our new and innovative services and content partners will be able to offer our customers in 2015.”
The manufacturer wouldn’t give details on which services were used the most by viewers, but pointed to the BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and YouTube.
