The Russian Duma (parliament) has passed an amended anti-piracy law that protects copyright in a number of fields.
According to Interfax and AKTR, they include literature, music and software but not photographs.
They add they add that the draft law provides for the possibility of extra-judicial resolution of disputes on copyright and blocking websites, which are the worst offenders.
An anti-piracy law on the protection of copyright in the film industry has been in place in Russia since August 1, 2013.
Earlier this year it was proposed to introduce amendments extending protection to all copyrights.
The “new’ amended law will come into effect on May 1 next year.
