Sony Network Entertainment International has provided details of a cloud-based TV service it plans to launch in Q1 2015.
According to Reuters, it will be known as PlayStation Vue and allow viewers to access live TV and on-demand content without accessing a cable or DTH service.
PlayStation Vue will also provide catch-up and on demand, making the previous days programming available without the need to schedule recordings.
In beta, initially available for select PS3 and PS4 owners from this month, PlayStation Vue will offer 75 channels in what be a phased rollout. This will start in New York, followed by Chicago, Philadelphia and Los Angeles.
Reception will in due course be also possible on iPad, followed by other Sony and non-Sony devices.
