German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has selected SES Platform Services, the technical services subsidiary of satellite operator SES, to manage the technical operations of its recently launched OTT service Sky Online.
Sky Deutschland’s new online service allows customers to watch TV live-streams and on-demand content at home and on the move without having to sign up for a traditional pay-TV subscription. The new product offers two TV packages (Sky Starter and Sky Film) comprising 12 linear TV channels and non-linear content.
SES Platform Services manages Sky Online’s linear offering, handling encoding, packaging and monitoring of the channels and implementing parental control measures.
“Sky Deutschland is currently the most dynamic media company in Europe and has emphasised its strength in innovation by launching Sky Online,” Sophie Lersch, chief sales officer at SES Platform Services, said in Munich. “We are delighted that Sky has decided to rely on our technical expertise and multi-screen encoding services for its latest OTT offering just as it did for Sky Go.”
SES Platform Services manages a total of 25 live OTT channels for Sky Deutschland 13 of which are on Sky Go.
