RT (Russia Today) has been threatened with statutory sanctions by Ofcom for breaching impartiality rules in its reporting of events in Ukraine earlier this year.
In its latest bulletin, the UK regulator says that it concluded that the licensee “failed to preserve due impartiality as required by Section Five of the Code and the four news bulletins detailed in this finding therefore breached Rules 5.1, 5.11 and 5.12 of the Code.”
It adds that the decision followed three previous published decisions in which TV Novosti breached Section Five of the Code.
RT launched a service dedicated specifically to the UK at the end of October.
