German commercial broadcast group ProSiebenSat.1 will launch an HD version of its free-to-air TV channel Sat.1 Gold.
Sat.1 Gold HD will be distributed to DTH satellite households in Germany on HDTV platform HD+ via Astra (19.2° East), a ProSiebenSat.1 spokeswoman told Broadband TV News. She didn’t, however, comment on a possible launch date.
Sat.1 Gold launched on January 17, 2013. The channel which targets women between 40 and 64 years of age has been the only free-to-air channel operated by ProSiebenSat.1 which didn’t provide an HD simulcast.
