German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will transmit a concert by German hip-hop band Die Fantastischen Vier live from Stuttgart in Ultra HD (4K) resolution on December 20, 2014.
The transmission is part of a comprehensive media partnership Sky Deutschland signed with the band and its record label Sony Music. According to the broadcaster, it will be the first live coverage of a concert in Germany in the Ultra HD format which offers a resolution four times higher than the current HDTV standard.
The concert will be distributed as a test run to four selected households and probably to two multiplex cinemas in Berlin and Munich.
Sky Deutschland will also offer the concert as an HD live event to its subscribers on pay-per-view service Sky Select. All Sky sports bars will also have the opportunity to show the concert live in HD.
