The Czech Republic’s two leading commercial broadcasters TV Nova and Prima TV have entered into a legal battle with the mobile streaming service TV4You.
According to Digizone, Prima has already achieved partial success, with the Municipal Court in Prague last week issuing a preliminary injunction prohibiting TV4You from streaming channels directly and offering the on a time-shift basis.
Jiri Balvin, a former head of Ceske Televize (CT) and minister of culture who holds a minority stake in TV4you, says it has been given 15 days to respond to the court’s decision.
He denies allegations by broadcasters that the service has been distributing channels without their consent, adding that they are already available to watch for free via DTT.
