Around 12 companies have expressed an interest in buying the Polish national commercial broadcaster TVN, according to its president Markus Tellenbach.
Speaking in a press conference and quoted by Wirtualne Media, he added that the sale is likely to take place next year.
Although Tellenbach did not name any of the interested parties, he did concede they include institutional and financial investors.
They are general believed to include Time Warner, 21st Century Fox, Discovery Communications, Bertelsmann and RTL Group.
Meanwhile, John Driscoll, TVN’s VP, revealed that the company will spend around PLN5 million (€1.18 million) this quarter on fees associated with reviewing its strategic options on TVN.
ITI Group and Canal+ currently hold a 51% stake in TVN.
TVN’s interests include 11 TV channels and the VOD service Player.pl.
