Stefano Parisi, founder and president of Chili TV, has announced he plans to expand his VOD service into Europe.
The service currently has 350,000 in Italy, but in order to grow, Parisi said he needs to expand. Initially, Chilli TV is scheduled to launch in the UK, Germany, Austria and Poland.
Another growth path will be bringing his S-VOD service to smart TVs.
“TV may have a key role in the growth of broadband in the country. 50% of Italian households do not have a PC and do not have a broadband connection, so the key is the connected TV. The telecom companies should push this to conquer a market where they can not penetrate.”
