Sky Deutschland has returned to the profit zone: In Q1 2014/15 (September 30, 2014), the German pay-TV broadcaster reached a net result of €12 million.
In the same period last year, Sky Deutschland recorded a net loss of €14 million. The last time black figures were reached below the line in a quarter was in 2007 when the company was still named Premiere.
Turnover rose by 10% to €431 million while the EBITDA climbed by 86% to €54 million. The growth is mainly based on the subscriber increase which rose in Q1 2014/15 by 96,000 to a total of 3.9 million – an increase by 26% compared with the same period last year.
As a new feature, Sky Deutschland wants to introduce Sky On Demand soon: The service will enable the owners of PVR Sky+ to access on-demand services Sky Go and Snap by Sky on their TV screen.
