HTTV and Tevolution offer joint hybrid DTT/OTT solution

October 30, 2014 18.27 Europe/London By Robert Briel

southernafricamapHTTV and OTT pay TV Platform TeVolution are showcasing at Africacast 2014 a joint demonstration to offer a connected TV experience to the African pay TV market.

TeVolution is proposing a fully integrated solution for African operators seeking to launch advanced pay TV services. Within a simple DTT/OTT hybrid device TeVolution offers linear and non-linear content, as DTT, live OTT channels, Catch Up TV, SVOD, TVOD etc., available with limited bandwithd and on second screen.

This joint demonstration is based on httvLink, HTTV’s hybrid TV operating system for connected TV devices. Worldwide successful TV operating system httvLink is fully compatible with HbbTV, the growing standard for connected TV. It is available for all STB platforms: from pure broadcast (DVB-T/T2/ S/ S2/ C front-ends) to pure IP (IPTV, OTT) and hybrid. It has been selected by Excaf Group for the Digital Switch over in Senegal.

The DVB-T2 Excaf Group STB will be used to demonstrate the combined HTTV TeVolution solution at AfricaCast. It enables both companies to offer cost-effective end-to-end solution (from content to TV) with advanced Internet-based services for price-sensitive markets.

“Many African countries will be switching from analogue to digital in 2015. By reducing development cost and time to market, our httvLink STB, integrated with TeVolution OTT platform will offer a very competitive solution for all operators managing Digital switch-over in Africa” said Regis Saint Girons, HTTV’s CEO

“The analog switch off in Africa comes at a time where OTT can be more easily implemented. We believe Africa is the first continent where OTT will become the main distribution standard for On Demand contents and thematic channels. This collaboration with HTTV will enable TeVolution to provide to African operators in 2015 a working solution that combines any kinds of content under one unique interface in a very short time” said Raphaël Porte, TeVolution’s CEO.
