Teracom’s Boxer has launched a new streaming live TV and VOD service across Sweden and Denmark called Boxer Play.
Norway’s Norigin Media have been selected to license their multi-screen TV Apps product with custom integrations to the video platform managed by Boxer in Sweden.
The new Boxer Play TV streaming service includes a variety of live channels and VOD subscription packs available to its customers with compelling content
Boxer TV currently offers over 50 live channels and a comprehensive video-on-demand catalogue to nine hundred thousand subscribing households in the region. This is the first time the TV giant has forayed into the OTT streaming territory, which is already a competitive market in Scandinavia.
“We are excited to launch Boxer Play in Scandinavia with Norigin´s Hybrid Apps product to meet the expectations of this mature market” said Hanna Lindqvist, director of product management at Teracom Group.
“The user experience and design have been very important for us and we have spent a lot of effort on getting it right. We have taken a lot of consideration to ensure the robust evolution in spite of a very fragmented device market.”
Norigin Media’s Hybrid Apps product is a multi-screen application suite, which utilises the benefits of HTML5 within natively coded applications, for common implementation. This single product supports devices ranging from Connected TVs, Game Consoles, Tablets, PCs & Macs and SmartPhones. The Hybrid Apps were integrated quickly via ready plugins to Boxer’s chosen video platform. The core of the product is a single mediation layer, called the MACapi, which allows swift and efficient management of the evolving product.
Ajey Anand, CCO, Norigin Media, commented: “Launching a new TV service in Scandinavia is always exciting as this is clearly the hub for the fittest of streaming services. Boxer Play is entering this space at a time where Play Services have taken a central focus in peoples´ homes, here in the region. Being selected to partner with Boxer to roll-out our flagship product within our home market, is yet another personal victory for us at Norigin”
