The Czech Republic’s Council for Radio and TV Broadcasting (RRTV) has awarded AMC Networks Hungary a satellite TV licence.
Valid for 12 years, it allows the channel to broadcast TV series and classic movies, mostly of US origin, for 24 hours daily.
Digizone points out that the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary will not have a common version of AMC, which is due to launch on November 5.
This is due to a claim made by AMC Networks Central Europe to the RRTV.
MGM, AMC’s predecessor, operated as MGM Channel Central Europe and had three language tracks, namely the original, Hungarian and Czech.
Digizone adds that the new channel will continue to broadcast in widescreen (4:3) format.
