SPI International is to change the name of its FilmBox Extra channel to FilmBox Premium in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania.
The move follows an internal brand review that concluded the broadcaster should clearly distinguish its flagship channel – currently FilmBox Extra – from other FilmBox brand channels offered in basic, EBS and premium tiers in the CEE region.
According to Berk Uziyel, executive director of Filmbox International Ltd, “we are currently negotiating new acquisition deals with major U.S. distributors and we expect to air a number of first-run feature movies on FilmBox Premium by the end of this year.”
He added, “we want to make sure that our subscribers have total clarity as to which one of our numerous channels carries the most recent movie premieres and new TV series.”
FilmBox Premium will be carried by most of the DTH platforms and large cable networks in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
Separately, SPI International has announced that its multiscreen VOD service FilmBox Live is now available on PlayStation4 (PS4) platforms in Turkey, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia.
