Public broadcaster France Télévisions is launching Ludo, a kids VOD platform for six to ten years olds.
The new app is available on smartphones, tablets and computers.
“Our new goal is to be where children are present, whether it is on the web, on tablets, on phones or on game consoles,” said Tiphaine de Raguenel Friday, director of the youth programming at France Télévisions.
“This is a generation of “what I want when I want it”, a generation of multi-screen users. And the tablet is in the centre in households with children,” argued Amel Cogard, director of the digital youth platform of France Télévisions. Part of the content can be downloaded for use without internet connection
“Some 19% of 7-12 year olds have a personal tablet”, she said, adding that the platform would arrive soon on mobile.
With the new app France Télévisions is competing with similar apps from TF1 and Gulli (Lagardère group). Last July, Canal + has launched its own kids pay platform, Canalplay Kids, aimed at 3-10 years.
