The Polish cable operator Multimedia Polska has signed an agreement with the country’s Authors’ Association (ZAiKS) governing their mutual relations.
Both parties have also entered into a licensing agreement for the payment of royalties to artists represented by ZAiKS.
Commenting on the development, Andrzej Rogowski, the president of Multimedia Polska, said: “ the conclusion of an agreement with ZAiKS not only regulates our relationship in the future, but – just as importantly – closes all disputes from previous years. We took the first step towards a clear clarification of obligations to the organisation of collective management of copyright last year by signing an agreement with the Association of Polish Filmmakers. The agreement with ZAiKS is a confirmation of this road”.
Krzysztof Lewandowski, director feneral of ZaiKS, added: “ this is a very important agreement for artists represented by our association. Thanks to it, we will be able to better protect works used by Multimedia Polska and provide their producers with the royalties there are owed”
Multimedia Polska is the third largest cable operator in Poland after UPC Polska and Vectra.
