Tesco has become the first major retailer to introduce UltraViolet in store, meaning that shoppers who purchase a DVD with an UltraViolet sticker (from any retailer), they can redeem a free digital copy.
It’s operating through Blinkbox, the retailers electronic movie store, recently put up for sale by the troubled supermarket.
Tesco Category Director for Entertainment Ian Ditcham said: “This is about helping movie and TV fans on their journey from physical to digital entertainment while also offering flexibility in how movies and TV shows can be easily shared with family.”
Designated UltraViolet titles that customers ‘buy to keep’ digitally from Blinkbox also qualify for UltraViolet rights including streaming, downloading and sharing with up to five family members.
