Germany’s national telco Deutsche Telekom will integrate subscription video-on-demand service Netflix into its domestic IPTV platform Entertain on October 14, 2014.
Entertain customers will be able to select Netflix directly through the Entertain menu on the TV screen. The content is available both in SD and HD quality with prices and conditions being similar to accessing Netflix through the open internet.
Entertain will be the first TV platform in Germany to offer its customers direct access to Netflix.
“We want to provide our customers with as much popular content as possible on our TV platform Entertain. With Netflix, we have won another very attractive partner,” said Michael Hagspihl, head of marketing at Telekom Deutschland.
With Maxdome and Sky Deutschland, Telekom carries two further third-party subscription services on its platform. Entertain also offers direct access to the free-of-charge catch-up portals (Mediatheken) of several TV channels.
