Free has decided not to distribute Netflix in France, at least not right away.
Speaking in a symposium organised by ARCEP and quoted in Le Figaro, Maxime Lombardini, the CEO of Iliad, Free’s parent company, said that accepting the conditions offered by Netflix, which have been accepted by other companies, “does not seem like a good idea”.
Bouygues and Orange will add Netflix to their offers in November, while SFR made it available on its Android box earlier this week.
Although Netflix is offering to pay 10% of revenues to ISPs for distributing its service, the usual amount in France is between 30% and a third.
