Commercial broadcasters Eurosport, Nickelodeon/Nicknight, Tele 5 and Disney Channel will remain available via DTT in the Hannover/Braunschweig region in German federal state Lower Saxony.
Local media authority NLM extended the DTT allocations by 10 years each at its latest assembly in Hannover. Disney Channel’s permission was extended by 7 years, as requested by the broadcaster.
The channels form part of the third commercial TV broadcaster multiplex on which most of them have been transmitted since 2004. The existing allocations would have expired at the end of 2014.
The new permissions include a clause on the transition from DVB-T to successor standard DVB-T2 scheduled to commence in June 2016.
