Recently launched French TV channels, soon be joined by a new service operated by the radio group RMC, are gaining viewers at the expense of established services.
Quoting data produced by Médiamétrie, Le Figaro reports that six recently launched DTT services – HD1, 6ter, RMC Découverte, Numéro 23, Chérie 25 and L’Equipe 21 saw their combined audience share rise from 2.5% in September 2013 to 3.9% last month.
Furthermore, performance is likely to continue improving as DTT coverage grows to 97% of the population by June 2015.
Meanwhile, two established channels ¬– M6 and France 2 – have also gained audience share. Separately, Parisien Economie reports that RMC Decouverte owners NextRadioTV plans to add a third TV channel – RMC TV – to its existing portfolio of RMC Découverte and BFMTV.
