The number of available lines delivering fibre to the home in Spain has exceeded one million for the first time.
According to Spain’s National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) an additional 91,237 fibre-to-the-home lines were added during July, taking the total to 1,025,056 lines. This represents an increase of 118.6% on 2013.
In contrast, DSL and coaxial cable (HFC) recorded losses of 67,951 and 12,203 lines respectively.
Mobile telephony continued the upward trend of recent months and in July added 215,281 new lines, the fifth consecutive month of gains. The number of mobile lines exceeded 50.7 million lines, up 1.3% from the previous year.
Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) added 153,553 new lines while 67,227 took Orange, Vodafone and Yoigo added 21,373 new lines added 11,717. Movistar posted a net loss of 38,589 lines.
