The Hungarian cable operator Tarr has deployed systems from Appear TV to increase its channel capacity and power a new 24-channel linear multiscreen service.
The former has been achieved with DVB-S/S2 satellite demodulators and latter with UniversalPicture Perfect Transcoding Hardware, with HFC Technics in each instance managing and integrating the installation.
Commenting on the deployment, János Tarr, CEO of Tarr, said: “The launch of the new Tarr Kft. multiscreen service and system upgrade enables us to continue to provide our consumers with access to our content on any device via innovative technology. We’ve been highly impressed with the performance and reliability of the Appear TV equipment we deployed for our SD and HD TV broadcast services two years ago, which made it easy to make the decision to choose Appear TV OTT/multiscreen solutions for our latest major service up-grade.”
Tarr is Hungary’s largest telco under total private ownership.
It has more that 100,000 subscribers in its service area in the west and southwest of the country, covering more than 293 towns and offering triple play and OTT services.
