YouView has announced the appointment of Nick Thexton as its new chief technology officer.
Thexton is currently VP and CTO for Cisco’s Video Software Solutions group and was SVP and CTO at NDS prior to its acquisition by Cisco. Among the projects he worked on was Videoscape Unity, designed to deliver video across multiple devices in the home over IP, an area that YouView wants to develop and the dynamic ad insertion technology deployed as Sky AdSmart.
He began his career in broadcasting at Thames Television and later moved to Channel 4.

His appointment follows a recent announcement that YouView is looking to expand its technology team by some 50%.
Thexton will join YouView on 3 November.
