US subscription video-on-demand provider Netflix has rolled out its service in Austria.
Like in neighbouring Germany, internet users in the Alpine republic can access the OTT service using a connected TV set, PC, laptop, smartphone, tablet or games console for a subscription fee starting at €7.99 per month.
The line-up available at www.netflix.at comprises movies, series, comedy shows, documentaries and children’s programmes. Local Austrian productions are not part of the offering at this stage.
As part of its expansion in Europe, Netflix launched in France and Germany this week. Switzerland will follow on September 18, 2014; Belgium and Luxembourg on September 19, 2014.
As the next markets, Netflix eyes Southern and Central Europe as well as Asia.
