Netflix will roll out its subscription video-on-demand service in Germany on September 16, 2014, with a wide-scale attack on established market players.
The US company will collaborate in the broadband market – as expected – with Deutsche Telekom which wants to expand the movie and series proposition of its IPTV platform Entertain through Netflix, reports German business magazine Wirtschaftswoche.
In the mobile market Netflix has – like in the UK and the Netherlands – opted for Vodafone, according to the report.
“Netflix will position itself in Germany more broadly than in any other country before,” the magazine quotes an insider who participated in negotiating the contracts in the past weeks.
Mobile network operator E-Plus is also said to be keen on getting into business with Netflix to accelerate the distribution of the OTT streaming service in Germany.
