ActiveVideo has become the latest European tech firm to join the RDK (Reference Design Kit) community.
In addition to becoming a licensee for the technology, ActiveVideo will also contribute a cloud-based browser for delivery of HTML5-based interactive TV UX, content and applications to RDK devices.

The RDK is a pre-integrated software bundle that provides a common framework for powering customer-premises equipment (CPE) from TV service providers, including set-top boxes, gateways, and converged devices. RDK is supported by more than 160 licensees including CE manufacturers, SOCs vendors, software developers, system integrators, and TV service providers.
RDK is a joint venture between Comcast Cable, Time Warner Cable, and Liberty Global. Significantly, ActiveVideo is a key supplier to Ziggo, in the process of being acquired by Liberty, subject to European regulatory approvals.
