Telefónica remains the leading provider of fixed broadband services in Spain, both in the DSL and FTTH sectors.
Data published by the regulator CNMC shows that as of this May the incumbent had 4,920,996 DSL lines, down from 4,973,103 a month earlier but still more than the combined 4,656,147 total claimed by other providers.
At the same time, Telefónica had 792,015 FTTH connections, up from 738,533 a month earlier, while other providers claimed 60,023.
Meanwhile, the cable broadband connection total continued to grow steadily, reaching 2,071,843 in May.
Although this was the fifth month in succession it had increased, overall there was little change on the 2,043,489 recorded exactly 12 months earlier.
