Cubiware launches multiscreen middleware

September 10, 2014 14.05 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

CubiwareCubiware (Hall 5, B30) has launched a multiscreen middleware solution known as CubiGo.

Building on the functionaliity of CubiTV OTT Multiscreen, it features a re-engineered user interface for operation on tablets and mobile phones.

Cubiware has also extended its multiscreen business model for licensees, introducing a ‘pay-as you grow’ model.

The new system allows operators to deploy CubiGo without major up-front financial commitments and to then scale up as subscriber demand increases.

CubiGo also includes, at no licence charge, advanced smart remote control functionality that allows control of both linear and VOD content on set-top boxes STBs from a mobile phone or tablet.

According to Maciej Grzonkowski, CTO of Cubiware, “Subscribers across the world are increasingly focused on experiencing content across multiple types of devices, and therefore functionality of multiscreen middleware has become crucial to the future of pay-TV.

“With CubiGo, we’ve taken this functionality to the next level, not only in terms of what features we support but also how easy it is for the viewer to access the content they want and to move content seamlessly from device to device. At the same time, with our new pay-as-you-grow licensing structure we’re making it easy for operators as well, essentially removing the financial barriers that can slow deployment of the latest innovations to the broadest possible subscriber base. So CubiGo is really a win-win solution: good for subscribers and good for operators. And that makes it good for the entire pay TV industry.”

Cubiware will be displaying CubiGo, available to licencees from Q4 this year, at IBC.
