Zappware takes Altice Group over the top

September 8, 2014 18.07 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Altice GroupZappware has been selected by the Altice Group to provide its multiscreen Over-The-Top (OTT) solution.

Altice Group provides pay television through the cable infrastructure of its networks in France, Israel, Belgium and Luxembourg, Portugal, French West Indies/Indian Ocean Area, Dominican Republic and Switzerland.

The platform offered by Zappware allows the main Altice Group networks to expand their services to a multiscreen environment. The solution incorporates features such as Live TV, Video-On-Demand (VOD), Catch-up TV and Restart TV and is available on both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets as on Windows and Mac PCs. The user interface is designed to perfectly match the networks’ digital TV service on set-top boxes.

Live TV on second screens has been available on the Cabovisao network since December 2013. Later this month, Coditel/Numéricable Belgium will launch the multiscreen service. Another deliverable is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2014 on the network of Israeli operator Hpt Telecom, followed by additional feature releases on all networks.

The co-operation between Altice and Zappware follows earlier deals with Altice-member Numericable concerning a UI solution for the La Box digital TV service of Numericable.

“Zappware’s solution allows us to offer our subscribers a multi-screen TV experience that is look-and-feel compatible with the TV experience offered through the set-top box”, said Patrice Giami, COO of Altice.

“After a successful cooperation with Zappware on the LaBox and OneBox service, we are happy to extend our relationship towards the second screens”.

“Today’s TV consumers are expecting a multi-screen converged TV experience that allows them to watch content outside the shared environment of the living room, in a more personal way,” said Patrick Vos, CEO of Zappware. “We are happy to have convinced members of the Altice group of the ability of our solutions to make such a converged experience reality.”
