Octoshape and Norigin Media announce partnership

September 8, 2014 07.49 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Octoshape and Norigin Media (Hall 14, Stand 14.H16) have announced a partnership to help premium content owners and broadcasters accelerate the launch of new, global multiscreen OTT streaming services to consumers on connected devices.

The Octoshape and Norigin partnership offers an integrated service for linear OTT broadcast, from signal acquisition to multiscreen delivery, across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The integrated solution will be demoed during IBC 2014 in Amsterdam.

The partnership is based on Norigin’s Cloud encoding product, which can be leveraged using any Live satellite or IP feed made available in Europe, combining Live TV ingest, transcoding and event scheduling on one platform. This platform has now been integrated using Octoshape’s patented Infinite UplinkTM and Infinite HD-MTM technologies, a suite of stream acceleration and multicast technologies enabling high quality video experiences across broadband distribution networks. The Norigin Media online event-scheduling tool will now allow content owners to distribute via Octoshape´s global distribution platform without any new integration testing.

“Norigin Media’s solution is a perfect fit with our service offerings,” said Michael Koehn Milland, CEO of Octoshape.

“The integrated value proposition for high quality, cost effective content acquisition, preparation and distribution enables a seamless transition for traditional broadcasters to offer a high quality OTT service while simultaneously driving brand protection and revenue.”

With the new solution, content owners and broadcasters will be able to expand their live channel offerings to PC and mobile devices. Octoshape’s fully integrated OTT/IPTV solution with Norigin’s state-of-the-art live video processing ensures that globally dispersed subscribers experience the same quality experience as broadcast TV, now over broadband multi-screen connected devices.

Jussi Komonen, Co-founder and COO, Norigin Media said “Our partnership with Octoshape completes a turnkey solution for multi-screen Live TV management in the cloud by adding a superior, new option for high quality content distribution to connected devices around the world. Our customers will be able to test the Octoshape streams within the online booking system and feel comfortable with the scheduling mechanism for live events. The business model for event based encoding tool matches the distribution network´s commercial models making it easier for our customer budgets.”
