A decision what will happen to the TF1’s information-based channel LCI will be made in the second half of this month.
Its future has been up in the air since July 29, when the National Audiovisual Council (CSA) refused it free to air status.
Although it was initially felt it might close, prospects that the channel may continue in some form were raised in an upbeat statement accompanying Bouygues latest set of results at the end of August.
Le Figaro reports that four options are now been considered, namely a legal appeal to the State Council, a sale, change in the business model or closure.
An appeal would hasve to be lodged by September 29, while three companies (Bergé, Niel and Pigasse) have expressed an interest in buying LCI.
The closure of LCI is seen by TF1 as very much a last resort.
