Music and entertainment channel MTV HD expands its reach on Deutsche Telekom’s German IPTV platform Entertain by moving to basic package HD Start.
Following today’s launch on HD Start, the distribution within the music package won’t be continued, an MTV spokesman confirmed to Broadband TV News.
The music package is a pay-TV offering for music fans which Entertain customers can access for an additional monthly fee while basic package HD Start targets a wider audience with the HD versions of Germany’s largest commercial free-to-air general interest channels such as RTL, Sat.1 and ProSieben.
Deutsche Telekom recently confirmed that changes were underway regarding its music package. More details regarding the new line-up are expected to be announced shortly.
MTV HD also moved from the pay-TV to the free-to-air environment for DTH satellite viewers in Germany today: Instead of pay-TV platform Sky Deutschland, the channel can now be received on Astra (19.2° East) at HD+, the HDTV platform carrying commercial free-to-air channels.
