MTGx, the digital content division of Modern Times Group, has announced that Fredrik Ljungberg will assume the role as programming director for Viaplay Nordic. He’ll take up the role on October 1.
Ljungberg has been with MTG for over 6 years, most recently as head of programme planning, acquisition and research, in charge of all scheduling and acquired content for MTG TV´s free-to-air channels in Sweden. He has been a key figure in the strategic development of the channels and the co-existence with the PLAY services and Viaplay.
He will now assume the responsibility for programming Viaplay Nordic, and report to Lina Brounéus, COO Content, MTGx and Viaplay.
Brounéus, Viaplay’s current programme director, will take a broader responsibility as COO Content, MTGx and Viaplay, and be responsible for all digital content across MTGx channels.
“MTGx is at the forefront of giving users great digital content experiences. We now have a “dream team” with Jakob, Lina and Fredrik who all are passionate content experts. Connecting people with the content they love the most is at the heart of what we do” says Rikard Steiber CEO MTGx & Viaplay and Chief Digital Officer MTG.
MTGx was launched in June 2013 as a new Group-wide initiative to accelerate the pace of MTG’s digital innovation and expansion. It has re-launched the group’s advertising funded catch-up TV platforms across 8 markets.
