Unitymedia Kabel BW to expand TV and Horizon line-up

August 28, 2014 10.15 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Unitymedia Kabel BWGerman cable operator Unitymedia Kabel BW will add entertainment channel Family TV and home-shopping channel mediasparTV to its cable network on September 2, 2014.

The commercial free-to-air channels will be distributed unencrypted in standard definition (SD) in federal states North-Rhine Westphalia, Hessen and Baden-Württemberg. Along with the previously announced additions Xite (free-TV) and Animal Planet HD (pay-TV), cable customers in the three states served by the Liberty Global subsidiary will gain a total of four new channels.

Furthermore, in North-Rhine Westphalia and Hessen SD channels Disney Junior and Disney XD will be added to the line-up on September 2, distributed in pay-TV package Digital TV Allstars. Both channels are already available in Baden-Württemberg.

In September, the Xite app will become available on TV and media platform Horizon. With the app, the music channel’s viewers will be able to search for music videos and compose playlists. The app analyses how users rate music videos, thereby learning their taste in music and selecting matching songs.
