Germany’s second-largest cable operator Unitymedia Kabel BW will offer pay-TV channel Animal Planet in high-definition to its customers.
As part of a reallocation of the channel line-up, cable households in the three federal states served by the Liberty Global subsidiary will be able to receive Animal Planet HD from September 2, 2014. For reception, customers need an HD cable subscription and a subscription to pay-TV package Digital TV Highlights or Digital TV Allstars.
As a new feature, viewers will be able to optionally watch the animal documentary channel’s programmes with the original English-language soundtrack if they prefer it to the dubbed German-language version.
The reorganisation of Unitymedia Kabel BW’s channel line-up on September 2 will also mark the German launch of Dutch music channel Xite. The channel targets viewers between 13 and 28 years of age with programmes focusing on hits, trends and stars.
