Cablenets deploying the TiVo system grew their installed based by some 283,000 in the second quarter.
CEO Tom Rogers said the growth was a 20% improvement on the same period last year. “In Sweden, TiVo powered Com Hem to positive subscriber additions for the first time in two years, and they’ve reached 17% TiVo penetration in only nine months of deployment. Anders Nilsson, Chief Executive Officer of Com Hem, said during a recent earnings call that ‘this very fast pickup is attributable to the fact that TiVo is the only true next-generation media service in the country with the widest TV channel offering and incorporating OTT services and on-demand products, making it the only one-stop shop for video entertainment in Sweden.”
TiVo reported adjusted EBITDA of $29.9 million and emphasising the importance of the MSO, service revenue from the sector grew by 37%.
Net income of $9.3 million was above even the higher end of the $6 million to $9 million guidance range.
Earlier this week TiVo has revealed the ‘limited edition’ TiVo Roamio OTA PVR.
The introduction has already been hailed by US press as “the ideal solution for cord-cutters”, as it combines digital terrestrial reception with streaming OTT video services.
