Norwegian pubic broadcaster NRK has launched its own SVOD application on Apple TV offering more than 40 000 programmes, free to view for a new audience.
NRK’s On-Demand service is already available on PC, tablets and mobile, but with the Apple TV app “TV content now comes back to where it belongs – the TV screen.”
Apple TV is the first of several TV centric devices to be supported by the Norwegian pubcaster. During the IFA 2014 show in Berlin NRK will launch applications for a number of smart TVs and game consoles.
“This is the first phase in our quest to reach the connected TV segment with our portfolio of on-demand content. The next phase will be a full HbbTV supported service,” said Bjarne Andre Myklebust, head of IP distribution at NRK.
