Switzerland’s largest cable operator UPC Cablecom will offer all of its customers a triple play package consisting of TV, internet and telephony as the standard basic subscription from January 1, 2015.
Mobile services will also be included without additional charge. In return, the basic subscription fee will be increased by CHF0.90 to CHF29.95 (€25) per month. Currently, only TV and internet are part of the basic subscription.
The new standard package offered by the Liberty Global subsidiary from January 2015 will contain more than 65 unencrypted digital TV channels – 36 of them in HD quality -, over 170 digital radio stations, 2Mbps internet access including a free modem, a free fixed-line telephone connection, a free app to use the telephone service at fixed-line tariffs on the smartphone – also abroad – and a mobile TV offering with more than 60 TV channels and an online video library accessible through the internet or an app.
“Thanks to the considerable upgrade of our basic subscription we are now meeting our customers’ most important needs in all areas: television, internet and telephony. And now the cable subscription is also becoming mobile,” Eric Tveter, CEO of UPC Cablecom, said in Zurich.
