FTTH is growing rapidly in Spain and now accounts for 73% of new fixed broadband lines.
The latest data published by the regulator CNMC shows that there were a total of 60,595 new fixed broadband connections in March, of which 44,333 were FTTH.
This was almost 10 times the DSL figure of 4,640, with HFC accounting for the remaining 11,622.
Yet despite this growth, FTTH accounted for less than 10% of total fixed broadband connections, though the figure of 740,020 lines was 90% more than a year earlier.
Telefónica remained the leading player, with almost 95% (704,759) of FTTH lines.
