Beamly co-founder Anthony Rose is to become President of a new business division working with device partners as part of a reorganisation of the social TV app’s management.
Jason Forbes, who had been responsible for the US business, becomes global CEO. He takes the role from Rose’s fellow co-founder Ernesto Schmitt, who now becomes the company’s non-executive president.
Said Forbes: “We are on a solid trajectory: July saw Beamly hit a run rate of over 4 million monthly active users, up 51% on June – which in turn was up 53% on May. Overall our monthly active users have grown 350% since our April relaunch. It’s a privilege to be asked to lead the team at such an exciting time.”
Simon Miller, who in his role as Chief Product Officer has been responsible taking the company directly to the consumer takes om the additional responsibility of UK managing director.
Rose, who worked on the development of the BBC iPlayer, and former EMI executive Schmitt founded the company as Zeebox in 2011. It became Beamly in April this year. It’s backed by Comcast, NBCUniversal, Viacom, BSkyB and Network TEN.
