Magyar Telekom ended the second quarter with 906,551 TV customers, or 6% more than a year earlier, as migration from cable to IPTV gathered pace.
Nearly half of the total (419,351), up 18.4% on the same period last year, opted for IPTV, with 308,088 (2/6%) choosing satellite TV.
Meanwhile, the cable subscriber total continued to fall, with the 179,112 figure being 10.7% lower than a year earlier.
Magyar Telekom’s blended TV market share in Q2, based on reports by the regulator NMHH, was 26.3% (25.7%) and blended ARPU HUF3,090 (€9.78), which was 0.4% lower than a year earlier.
Although IPTV and DTH revenues increased in Q2 compared to 2013, they were to some degree offset by lower cable revenues due to migration to IPTV.
