Germany’s national telco Deutsche Telekom has gained 63,000 new customers for its domestic IPTV platform Entertain in Q2 2014.
The offering now reaches a total of 2.32 million customers.
The development shows that Entertain slowly recovers from its growth slump due to the loss of the Bundesliga rights to competitor Sky Deutschland. In Q2 2013, Telekom only recorded 42,000 new Entertain customers. When Entertain held the Bundesliga rights, the platform won more than 100,000 new customers in some quarters.
Telekom also recorded strong growth for its fibre-optic products VDSL and FTTH which gained 227,000 new customers in Q2 2014. The total number of fibre-optic broadband connections rose within one year by 55% to almost 2 million.
