German toy manufacturer Playmobil will take its figures to domestic and international TV screens.
“There will be a series for British, French and Canadian television,” Playmobil’s sole owner Horst Brandstätter told Swiss business newspaper Handelszeitung, adding that the German-speaking countries would probably follow in spring 2015. The contractual negotiations with a German TV broadcaster would shortly be finalised.
The first 52 episodes (duration: 11 minutes each) will be shown in Italy from September and in the UK from October.
Playmobil’s children series Super4 recently debuted on French channel France 3, marking the first country worldwide in which the animated 3D series about the adventure of four heroes in Playmobil design can be seen.
The series is produced by Morgen Studios in Berlin and French company Method Animation.
Other toy manufacturers like Lego recently achieved great commercial success by presenting their figures in movies. The Lego Movie made around $470 million from its theatrical release so far. The production costs were only around $60 million.
