Germany’s second-largest cable operator Unitymedia Kabel BW has won 82,000 new internet customers and 42,000 new telephony customers in Q2 2014.
38% of the total of 7.1 million customers were signed up for a product combination of TV, internet and telephony at the end of June 2014.
34,000 new customers opted for multimedia box Horizon in Q2 2014 which can now be found in more than 135,000 households. Following the introduction in North-Rhine Westphalia and Hessen in September 2013, Horizon will be rolled out to cable homes in Baden-Württemberg this autumn, marking complete coverage of the three federal German states served by the Liberty Global subsidiary.
More than 125,000 customers use the free-of-charge TV everywhere service Horizon Go which takes linear TV channels and the video-on-demand (VOD) service to laptops, tablets and smartphones.
1.2 million customers were equipped with HD reception hardware issued by Unitymedia Kabel BW at the end of June. 47,000 new customers opted for the fee-based HD Option in Q2 2014 which grants access to the HD versions of Germany’s main commercial free-to-air TV channels, increasing the total number of subscribers to the HD Option to more than 800,000.
