Germany’s second-largest cable operator Unitymedia Kabel BW will offer a range of normally encrypted HD channels free of charge to its customers from August 1 to August 31, 2014.
Cable households in the three federal states served by the Liberty Global subsidiary with a digital cable subscription and reception hardware issued by the cable company will be able to test the HD option at no charge in August. The HD option which regularly costs €4.00 per month provides access to 16 commercial free-to-air channels in high definition, for example RTL, Sat.1 and ProSieben.
Customers signed up to subscription packages Digital TV Allstars and Digital TV Highlights in which the HD Option is already integrated can receive additional 24 or 12 HD channels correspondingly at no additional charge.
Including pay-TV platform Sky Deutschland, Unitymedia Kabel BW offers a total of 66 HD channels on its cable network.
